PC Guardian offers clients the flexibility to determine
how keys should be assigned to the locks used by their organizations.
For instance, clients can order a unique key for each lock
(we call this "keyed differently"),
or they can order one key that will fit many or all the locks
they purchase for their organization ("keyed
alike"). In addition, we can provide "master
keyed" systems, which offer maximum security while simplifying
key management and administration.
Please contact a sales representative for help selecting
a keying program that meets the administrator and end-user needs
of your organisation.
Keyed differently
Under a keyed differently system, clients can order a unique key
for each lock. This option is used when the client does not need
a key recovery system.

Keyed alike
Under a keyed alike system, all the locks are keyed the same;
thus, any key will open any lock. This option typically is used
with PC Guardian's desktop anti-theft packages and disk drive locks.
After the security packages are installed, a supervisor or manager
(not the end user) keeps the keys. The task of managing the keys
is much simpler if all the keys are the same.

Master keyed
Under a master key system, each lock is keyed differently from
the others. A master key is provided to a designated supervisor.
The master key is capable of unlocking any of the locks. This option
is useful with our notebook theft prevention products because typically
the end user retains the keys. In the event that a user loses his/her
keys, a supervisor can unlock the PC with the master key.
